Biography

French painter, it was during 14 years spent in Salvador de Bahia that the artist discovered the naïve painting and the popular imagery of the Brazilian Northeast.
Influenced by this form of expression, he developed his own unique language, using, among other materials, old maps on which he drew human and animal figures in a stylized jungle setting.

Like an engraver, he uses lines and dots to trace and shape a strange alphabet of pictograms, playing with colors, topography, roads, rivers, typography, and legends.

More recently, his work has entered a more colorful and mysterious period, interlacing shapes and colors, flirting with the limits of figuration.

In his own way, he redraws and reshuffles the maps and rewrites world history, taking the audience on a singular, motionless, timeless journey.

The Anatole Jakovsky International Museum of Naïve Art in Nice hosts his work in 2025.
